The Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event
Sunday

Sunday morning came and after breakfast, Karen and I checked out of the Lexington Embassy Suites and headed over to the Kentucky Horse Park for the final day of competition in the Rolex Kentucky Three Day - show jumping!  Lexington was truly blessed with fantastic weather all weekend long - just gorgeous weather!

Would you expect anything less at a Rolex event?

The show jumping portion of the competition took place back inside the same newly build outdoor stadium where the dressage competition was held on Friday.  But as you can see from the above photos, an elaborate course of jumping obstacles was set up for the horses and their riders to navigate.  It's a more controlled environment than the cross country course of Saturday, but no less difficult.

There were certainly a few faults along the way

Most of the riders did exceptionally well on this extremely challenging course:

After three days of world class competition it would be rider Lucinda Fredericks of Australia on Headley Britannia which took home the $80,000.00 purse and white gold Datejust from Rolex.

I hope you enjoyed this travel report on the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event - it was a great introduction to the world of equestrian eventing for both Karen and I, and one of the best events I've had the privilege to cover.  Many thanks go to Rolex USA for allowing me to attend this event.
